Arlen Specter didn't just give up his GOP affiliation, he just gave up his seniority on two powerful Senate committees. He now drops to the bottom of the heap on the Appropriations Committee, the powerful committee that doles out $$. He also drops to the bottom of the Judiciary Committee, just as it would be firing up to question Obama's Supreme Court nominee. When it comes time to question a nominee, he will ask questions right after Ted Kaufman, who has been a Senator from Montana for 4 months, compared to Specter's 29 years.
I bet he is kinda ticked off right about now, because he said Harry Reid assured him his seniority would remain intact.
